About Me
My fascination with the wonder of mathematics and science fiction began in childhood. I have early memories of sitting with my dad in the living room watching Star Trek reruns and asking him to teach me algebra. My love of mathematics stuck with me, and I have been a math instructor at the college/university level since 1993. I still love sci-fi/fantasy movies and novels, as well as games, puzzles, popular science books, and Christian study. I also enjoy playing the piano and singing in the church choir.
My vision for Wondertakings was to create a devotional blog for “nerdy” Christians like me. I do believe, as Socrates said, that wisdom begins in wonder. So I love to read or watch anything that inspires wonder and figure out what I can learn from it. I view it all through a Christian lens. I believe that God can and does speak through many sources in many ways, even if those speaking are not aware of it. I am not an expert in theology or religious studies. My goal with this blog is simply to share what I’ve learned as a fellow student and sinner in the Christian walk. My hope and my prayer is that by doing so I may be able to help someone else.
My husband and I have been married since 1992. We have three children and two grandchildren. I asked each of my children to describe me in one word. Here’s what they said: “responsible,” “dedicated,” and “weird.” Yeah, that sounds about right. : )
Live long and prosper, my friends!
